Several Council employees have point out to us that,Employees at the upper end of the pay scale (middle upper management) are sourced from outwith the NAC area,
NO not South or East Ayrshire, but East Renfrew and North /South Lanark........
Fair Dos, if they are paying their own travel costs ......But they are not ......
These folk are getting provided with Vehicles and Fuel , these costs are coming out of the stretched Council Budget, and they pay squat.
They don't even pay Tax on the Benefits in Kind that should be accrued on the Travel some may be paid for the Travelling time, or the council might operate a "Time starts When you cross the Kingston Bridge" policy.....
Problem with that one is ....Tradeston is not in North Ayrshire
Lets say there are 10 such people and Each uses £25 worth of Diesel a Day ( you know for the trips to the supermarket going to the Football, etc etc)...that's £1250 a week or £65,000 a year............Would that money not be better used in employing Two additional people or better still Three apprentices?
Invest in the area........That would be a change
On discuss this we were informed that some "call-outs" are handled by workers who reside in Cumnock and New Cumnock...Hardly local
Consider if the "call-out" requirement is at Skelmorlie, which would no doubt be a matter of urgency, for that is what call-outs are about. one the travelling time and two travelling costs.
This is a complete mismanagement of resources
Which raises the point of,Several years ago We were told of North Ayshire employing some high earner,,Now there were two possibly sides to this and NO ONE can say which is TRUE, So we'll call it an Urban Fairy story.......The Council were to pay the employee's Relocation cost and aid in the purchase of a Home, a bit much to be sure ,BUT the Person was to be employed by both South and East Ayrshire at various times.
I have little doubt that Both these authorities would be chipping into the large Kitty........
The problem was that the New Start hated the area , and would in no circumstance stay in NA, so NA had SA looking for a suitable location, EA was as they say "out the window" as well
It was suggested that NAC paid the rent in a so called "prestigious area" in SA for the employee
This is of course speculation as to what is happening , If anyone can clarify
