The practise of doing this started about 3 weeks ago,
There is one on the vacant Clydesdale Bank and one on the former DEBRA charity shop
RISE are a Scottish Left Alliance, the letters stand for Respect, Independence, Socialism and Environmentalism.
The Poster which says
"NOTICE OF PROCEEDINGS
Failure to use this building for the benefit of the local community, will result in the occupation and expropriation of the property, by the local community for the local community.
Whilst this property lies empty and derelict thousands of our people are forced into poverty, hunger, homelessness and in extreme cases death.
We have grounds to believe the land banking of this property is a direct contributing factor to these problems.
It is for the above stated reasons that we request that this empty property is put to a use that directly benefits society or actions will be taken to ensure it does.
Signed: RISE Scotland"
Quite apart from what it says, the movement are against Landbanking, What's that? you ask.........a couple of different things,
one,
A large scale builder will buy land to hold on to to redevelop at a later stage, the price they hope will increase substantially
two,
Shops, the owners of the shops say a closed BHS or a smaller company who have a portfolio of small shop are not getting any income from the property,So they will spend nothing of the property, and if the building deteriorates to such an extent they won't care,....If it's used for a charity then the building being occupied has a much higher commercial interest
RISE want the property used to aid and encourage the community, which in turn creates a sense of betterment towards the community
At present RISE are the only one who seem to have any radical ideas towards the subject,....at the present time the Labour,Conservative and SNP Parties ,have not a clue, don't care(yes that's true)and have a bunch of idiots in the council,........Honestly ,they and by that we mean the Party ones, collectively suffer from the inability to fart and chew gum, they have no vision, to be perfectly honest the great ,the good and the terminally indifferent of the political spectrum, have let the area down since Fitzy MacLean (and probably before that via Hunter-Weston)
